YoshiBlog Rewrite

February 26, 2006

This blog contains a rewrite of the Lecture 12 Go Gay to get paid? article by YoshiBlog.

In today’s pornography industry there is a much wider variety than the pornography in the past.  The pornography not only contains sex from heterosexual couples, but now tends to contain a variety of homosexual couples.  The homosexual couples involved in sexually activity in these pornographies, not only include females with females but males with males as well.  In fact the majority of these males that film homosexual sexual acts are often getting a higher salary than those performing heterosexual activities.  A straight man in a pornography film tends to receive about 300 to 600 dollars per day, where as a woman receives about 300 to 700 dollars per day.  A man performing gay sexual acts in a pornography normally makes about 3,000 to 4,000 dollars per scene.  Due to the fact that the money for performing gay pornography is a much larger income, numerous straight men opt to participate in these homosexual scenes.  Overall 20 – 50 % of men performing in gay pornography are straight.  They often call refer to this as “Turn gay for pay” which means exactly what it implies.  Throughout the process of filming these gay films a majority of the men use Viagra to “make them feel fruitier.”  They also may use tactics such as having their girlfriend or wife on the side naked to help turn them on.

In Regards to the Bee Sting Fetish…

February 23, 2006

After reading this post by Ellie’s thoughts I was really disgusted.  The same questions were brought to my mind that she had, especially the one about how people find out that they have this fetish in the first place.  It almost worries me that people out there, well some men, have fetishes like this.  It is not really something that is very sanitary and is almost torturous to their penises.  I do not understand why any male in their right mind would want to experience a bee sting, let alone get sexually aroused from it.  What is really going on in these men’s brain, because I would love to know.

Online mingling

February 22, 2006

Watching lecture nine really brought my attention the the number of online sources where people are able to communicate and meet eachother for potential dating or hooking up.  I was currently aware of facebook, as every college student is, and the same thing for myspace.  As well as the number of dating websites such as match.com, since they tend to be advertised substantially on the television.  These websites are obviously for college students as well as adults to meet,  but I was oblivious to other websites that go to a greater level.  The lecture talks about websites such as bangable.com where people are rated as to how “bangable” they are.  These people on these websites are not only treated as objects, but I don’t understand the type of people that actually look at these websites.  I am unable to understand what they get out of this website, does it make people feel better that they put their picture up and receive a higher “bangable” level?  Another type of website that I did not know exsisted was the escort websites.   They actually contain information on there about what the people like to do and how much they charge, like our instructor said its like “quality insurance for prostitution.”  Basically this class teaches me something new about what is really out there in this world every time I watch a lecture.

Snuff films

February 22, 2006

After watching lecture nine and hearing about the snuff movies I was really shocked.  I decided to google snuff and see what I can find.  Mainly I came across a number of websites that just discussed what was a considered a snuff film.  If these were ever to actually exsist during some point and time, I wonder what the creators were thinking.  Since it involves murdering someone for others sexual desires, I don’t believe that this would ever be able to go to the big screen.  It would violate numerous laws and the government would never allow an actual murder to happen for a movie.  Another thing that interests me about the situation was in the movie Snuff that included a snuff film ending (with a supposed true murder).   I came across this article.  It states how the two husband and wife actors in the film were portrayed as actually commiting the murder that would make it considered a snuff film.  The husband and wife were upset by this, and actually attempted to sue the director.  But the part that baffles me is how the wife actually ends up leaving her husband to marry the director and be taught how to make hardcore pornography.

Education counselor involvement in child pornography

February 17, 2006

I normally tend to look at the CNN website to check the latest current events that are occurring in the world.  While browsing through the website, I decided to check and see if any of the headlines that were occurring were related to the pornography industry or anything sexual in any way that related to this class.  After doing a search of these events I came across this article.  It states how a former male, forty- seven year old, child education counselor was being sentenced for the involvement in an international child pornography case.  The child pornography he, and forty- five victims, were involved in included using bondage and sodomy.  This fact alone that he would decide to include these types of acts in the child pornography is sickening.  Also disturbing is the fact that when showed videos and photographs of children in sexual positions, all the man would do is smile.  Off the forty- five victims that were a part of this pornography, a number of them developed mental issues.  The ages of these children ranged from two to fourteen.  It is so upsetting that people are actually able to make an industry out of child pornography because of the people that are interested in it.  For someone to get off from a two year old doing sexual things is disgusting.  Hearing about cases like these is definitely disturbing.  One man may be behind bars for the rest of his life for this child pornography, but to this day there are numerous other people out there doing this same thing that need to be stopped and punished immediately.

Porn is everywhere

February 14, 2006

After watching the Frontline American Porn video I’ve come to realize that pornography really is virtually everywhere in society today.   I was extremely shocked to see that companies such as AT&T were involved in the pornography business.  I did not think that a company so opposite from pornography would make a large portion of its money of that business.  Another surprise I encountered after watching the Frontline video was in regards to the extremes pornography is now taking these days.  The pornography that they showed being taped in the end is a little ridiculous in my opinion.  I do not feel that it is necessary to have a video that involved brutally hurting someone.  Not only portraying that the woman is being abused, but also the fact that she is physically getting harmed during the process.  I do not believe any pornography video is worth getting beaten up for.  The fact that those videos are allowed to be videotaped and marketed is sickening as well.  Mainly after watching the Frontline American Porn video I have acknowledged that pornography really is everywhere, whether the public notices it or not, and that it has become intensely extreme.

Cell phone pornography

February 6, 2006

While looking around on the internet I bumped into an article on the CNN website.  It basically discusses how cellular pornography is currently a big hit in Europe.  Although pornography is currently not available on cell phones in the United States there was a conference held recently in Miami discussing the issue.  I feel that if this were to actually happen in the United States a much greater number of children under eighteen would be able to gain access to pornography.  Regulating the exposure of the porn from the cell phone would be extremely difficult.  There would be no way to stop the children from looking it up.  I think there is already enough pornography out there whether on the internet or in magazines and video that it isn’t even necessary to offer the option of obtaining it from your cell phone.  I am glad to hear that one of the Verizon Wireless reps claims that it will be highly unlikely that Verizon Wireless will pick up this type of service.

1850: Pornographer appears in Dictionary

February 6, 2006

In 1850, not sure of the exact date, but the word pornographer appeared in the Oxford English Dictionary.  The definition was “one who writes of prostitutes or obscene matters; a portrayer of obscene subjects.” The fact that this word was included in the dictionary signifies how large the industry was becoming.  For a word to be published it meant that people were beginning to accept it , and acknowledging the fact that it was going to stay around in society.  It wasn’t until 1857 when pornography appeared in the dictionary.  I find it interesting that the word first only referred to ancient Greek and Roman texts until later when it was used for up to date pornography.  Overall these words being published in these dictionaries would be classified as a significant milestone in pornography’s history in my opinion.  If they were never to be published they would only be considered slang words.  For as large as pornography has become to date a defined word is definately a necessary.
